Spend a week in the Philippines with John Crowder & Friends

WHAT WILL WE DO?

As part of the mission team, you will carry the supernatural joy, presence and transformative love of Jesus Christ with us as we share and live the glorious Gospel in the Philippines! This is the only trip currently open for applicants for the upcoming year (February 20-27, 2025). On this trip you will join John Crowder and friends in helping equip local churches in the Trinitarian message of grace, praying for the sick and participating in outreach to the poor (which may include ministry in slums and garbage dumps). The team will minister at an event in Manila, and visit our children's home there to spend time with orphans. You will also take an inter-island flight with us, where we'll travel by boat to visit rural areas for ministry to remote villages. The trip will include some team relaxation time swimming in the secluded, pristine waters of the South Pacific. Our mission trips are literally life-changing experiences - great for getting hands on activation in the grace and glory of the Gospel. HOW DO I APPLY?

Our application process is very simple. Just follow the steps below and you're on your way!

1 - For starters, you will place your DEPOSIT using the payment button above to hold your spot on the team. Space will be limited for this trip, so be sure to submit your deposit EARLY. Cutoff deadline for deposits is October 31, 2024 or sooner if the team fills up.

2 - Next, you will need to CLICK THIS LINK to fill out our online Mission Application. 

3 - Now, simply wait! We will email you to confirm your placement on the team. We will also send periodic information as it becomes available about the trip. This is a good time to begin fund-raising at your local church, online or through family and friends who may want to support your mission!

FINAL PAYMENT

Your next and final payment amount is due by December 15, 2024. You can pay this now or later (using the other button above). Just don't miss the deadline! Your payment covers all hotels, ground transport, an inter-island flight, boat travel and two meals a day - everything but your international airline ticket, which you will buy separately.

LAST STEPS

This is a "make your own way" trip, which means you will be responsible for purchasing your own round-trip airline ticket into Manila, Philippines. You can buy your tickets as soon as you are confirmed (keep in mind many folks like to donate air miles to missionaries! So you may end up flying for free). Simply fly in to Manila anytime on February 20 and fly back out from Manila anytime on February 27 (if you want some extra free time in the Philippines on your own, feel free to arrive earlier or stay later). For arrival and departure, you will taxi back and forth between the airport and the hotel. The team will meet up the morning of February 21 at the hotel. We will email everything you need to know about this and answer any questions.

Getting There:

We will fly into Manila landing anytime on February 20 and departing anytime on February 27. *If you choose to come early or stay later for holiday, that is fine!

Can I bring a church group?

Pastors and lay leaders may choose to serve as a team leader and bring along a small group from your own local area. Please contact us with any questions about this.

How will we serve?

The main purpose of our trip will be to minister the Gospel of Grace both in the local church and by releasing the joyous, healing, liberating power of the Trinity everywhere we go. During the meetings, you will participate in prayer ministry. On the streets and slums we will interact with the poorest of the poor for one-on-one ministry as we feel led. Our trip will include outreaches to garbage dumps and/or slums, as well as visiting orphans and remote villages.

What is the cost?

The total cost is $1,950 plus you will purchase your own air ticket into Manila, Philippines and back. The first deposit ($500) is due upon application no later than Oct. 31, 2024. The remainder of the payment ($1,450) is due by Dec. 15, 2024. Deposits are non-refundable, but may be applied to someone else if you are unable to go. Where will we travel?

This trip consists of visiting several areas around Manila, plus remote regions on another island.

What do costs include?

The payments you make to Sons of Thunder will cover nice hotels for your entire stay, all of your ground transportation, a round trip inter-island flight from Manila to another island and back, boat travel, as well as two meals a day and other costs associated with supporting the outreach endeavors. The costs do not include your flight to Manila and back home.

When do I purchase a flight?

This is a "make your own way" trip, which means you will be responsible for purchasing your own airline ticket into Manila (Arriving anytime on February 20) and back home (departing anytime February 27). You can begin looking for tickets and purchasing them right away. However we do recommend waiting until about 50 days prior to flight time (ticket prices go up last minute, but they may also be expensive if you book too early). Often friends and family have air miles they may want to donate to you. This is the benefit of a "make your own way" trip as you can potentially save cost on flights. Exact hour of arrival on February 20 is not important - the team will meet up the following morning at the team hotel. We will send information about the hotel and meet-up once you apply.

Who can join this trip?

Anyone can come along who wants to dive into mission work and enjoys the love and power of Jesus Christ spilling out to the nations! Simply follow the steps above and you're on your way!

Are there age limits?

Sometimes age limits can be waived with parental consent.

What do I pack and what do I bring?

Now you are overthinking this! We will send various emails along the way, posting you on advice about packing, eating, currency exchange, weather and many other details. We will walk you through all the details between now and then ... for now, just take the step of faith and sign up!
