Grace is not a created force, but the very Person of Jesus Christ who has united Himself to the human race through His own incarnation and finished work of the cross. Salvation is not a commodity He gives to some or withholds from others; Salvation is a Person who is closer to us than we are to ourselves. The reality of our mystical union with the Triune God is the truth that intoxicated the ancient church and obliterates every religious lie of separation, distance and delay. We don’t even rely on our own waivering faith, but upon His faithfulness. Be scandalized and transfigured by the authentic Gospel that invalidates our sober, self-important religious efforts to please a God whose Good Pleasure is already fully ours in Christ.
